Ongoing research: The Big Green Society

The Big Green Society

Localis, in conjunction with Westminster City Council, will be producing a pamphlet offering practical suggestions for reforming and improving the way in which waste management and cleansing is carried out in local government. Drawing on lessons from Westminster and elsewhere, the report will explore new models of service delivery, focussing on the big society and opportunities to involve businesses, people and community groups, waste minimization and behavioural change.

These themes will lead to a series of recommendations for central and local government. The pamphlet will emphasize that self-sufficiency is crucial for the Big Society, and will incorporate a range of perspectives for how this can be achieved.
